Foster said employees will be paid weekly and can expect to receive their first paycheck about 10 to 14 days after their first day of work.Field employees will be reimbursed for authorized work expenses, including mileage incurred while conducting 2020 Census work.During training, the pay rate will be lower than the regular hourly rate.Foster said those who wish to apply must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid Social Security number and United States citizenship. Males born after 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service System or have a qualifying exemption. Those who are offered a job must pass a criminal background check and review of criminal records, including fingerprinting. Those offered a job must also be available to work flexible hours, including days, evenings and weekends, Foster said.Most jobs require employees to have access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license unless public transportation is readily available. Access to a computer with Internet is necessary to complete training.Foster said those who would like to join the 2020 Census Team may apply online at 2020census.gov/jobs.
