GEORGE, Utah-Kody Wilstead completed 12 of 18 passes for 164 yards, three touchdowns and an interception as the Dixie State Trailbazers set a program record at the NCAA Division II level with their fifth straight win in dismantling Simon Fraser 55-21 Saturday evening at Trailblazers Stadium.Wilstead also ran for 84 yards on six carries, serving as Dixie State’s leading rusher in the game.Keaton Mott also excelled for Dixie State when called upon, as he completed 10 of 13 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown in the rout of the Clan, out of Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada in the non-conference tilt.Kasey Allison (5 rec, 75 yards, TD) was the Trailblazers’ star receiver on the night. Sei-J Lauago and Andrew Kannely-Robles each added a scoring run to represet the backfield for Dixie State in the rout.Defensive linemen Dylan Hendrickson, Mitch Jacobs and Fred Prescott each posted 1.5 sacks for the Trailblazers and defensive back Alex Lilliard netted four pass breakups in the win for Dixie State.In defeat, the Clan, the only NCAA school outside of the United States, were paced by signal-caller Brandon Niksich (25-41, 327 yards, 2 TD’s) and receiver Rysen John (7 rec, 149 yards, TD).The 5-1 Trailblazers return to Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play next Saturday, October 19, as they visit the Western Colorado Mountaineers at Gunnison, Colo.last_img read more
