(Photo by Julio Aguilar/Getty Images)A major college football program has called out UCF for a potential non-conference series in the coming years.Florida, an in-state rival, has attempted to schedule a non-conference series against the Knights. The Gators’ head coach, Dan Mullen, announced earlier in the week that he had attempted to schedule a 2-for-1 series (Florida gets two home games, UCF gets one) against UCF.“I think we offered them a two-for-one like we do with most schools in their position which I think is actually a really good deal,” Mullen said.“They’d have the opportunity to have an SEC school play at their place would be potentially a big deal for them. I know I’ve done it that way — when I was at Mississippi State we did it, we played some two for ones with schools in smaller conferences, give them the opportunity to have an SEC school is a big plus for them. [Athletic director Scott Stricklin] brought it up to them, if they want to try to toughen their schedule, that would be great. It’d be a good opportunity for them I think if they want to take it, but that’s up to them.”Not everyone thinks it’s a great deal, though.Danny Kanell called out Florida for the attempted series.“You hear that UCF?? You should be so blessed to be graced with the presence of the Gators that you should sign up for a totally one sided agreement just to say you could share the field with the almighty SEC even tho you’ve had significantly more success as of late,” he tweeted. You hear that UCF??
