They both ran hard between the wickets like they always do in a partnership and put the pressure back on the Aussies. The duo added 82 runs for the fourth wicket as Kohli went on to score his 39th ODI hundred but got out at a time when India still needed 57 off 38 balls. The situation demanded a calm head and who better than Dhoni to be at the crease.Dhoni took care of the singles and doubles while Karthik played the attacking shots as the duo added 57 runs to take India over the line. The 37-year-old struggled towards the end of his innings as he kept running out of breath in the hot conditions in Adelaide but still managed to carry on and win the game. After the game Yuzvendra Chahal, who wasn’t included in the playing XI yet again, got to interview Kohli in which he asked what it was like to build a partnership with Dhoni, the finisher.advertisement”It’s important to take the game slow and strike rotation becomes very important and then when Mahi bhai comes on the crease, he talks a lot while batting and that helps a lot. When you are contemplating whether you should take a risk or not, he comes around and says there’s a lot of time in the game so it calms you down.”We bat very well together because we take the game forward and get runs from the middle. There was a phase in the middle of 4-5 overs where I attacked so those calculated risks had to be taken.”This is why you have been selected for the Indian team because you have to do that so that is something that should be worked upon mentally and I think a lot about it that if the team is in a problematic situation, I can get the team out and get the victory. When you are mentally convinced, you are able to perform on the field,” Kohli said in the interview on www.bcci.tv.Do Not Miss: Meet Chahal TV’s debutant – Captain @imVkohliIn our fun segment, we get the Indian captain talking about his 39th ODI ton, the @msdhoni finish & a lot more – by @RajalAroraFull Video Link https://t.co/Am0NCYFqs7 pic.twitter.com/GPtmNjfOCCBCCI (@BCCI) January 15, 2019The 30-year-old once again lauded Dhoni for the way he paced his innings and played a typical knock that fans have witnessed so many times in this format over the years.”The classic way MS Dhoni plays in since a number of years, I think we saw a glimpse of that today. When you don’t play a lot of matches, especially at the international level to it’s difficult to get going from the start, he has even been in Australia for only a while – there’s jet lag, there’s tiredness, it is difficult for the mind to open up, even we experienced it in T20s that you can’t just start playing in flow right away.”So I think he will get more and more batting flow as he keeps playing and if he gets in the flow, as a team we feel very relaxed because we can bank on it. In Adelaide, he has already played a number of special innings which is why he must be feeling special too because again in Adelaide he has played a finishing knock. So as a team we feel very nice when he performs,” Kohli added. The focus now shifts to the series-deciding third ODI which will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on January 18.Also Read | MS Dhoni has done this for years: Dinesh Karthik on match-winning stand in AdelaideAlso Read | Jasprit Bumrah salutes MS Dhoni: Legends don’t need to prove their worth to anyoneAlso Read | It was an MS Dhoni classic, hats off to him: Virat Kohli after Adelaide winFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to indiatoday.in/sports.
