WATCH Post Santa Fe Shooting Aldine ISD Reviews Safety Precautions for New

first_img Share In the months following the shooting at Santa Fe High School, administrators at a nearby Houston school district are cautiously preparing for a new year.After a school shooting occurs somewhere in the country, it’s become regular procedure at Aldine ISD to review their safety measures and protocols, according to the district’s Assistant Superintendent of Administration Kenneth Knippel. While the Santa Fe shooting happened close to home, he says their increased attention on school safety was initially sparked by the shooting at Sandy Hook in 2012. Angeline AbreraThis story was reported by Angeline Abrera, a 2018 PBS NewsHour Gwen Ifill Legacy Fellow. She and two other high school students from around the country were selected this year, granting them hands-on learning experiences at their local PBS stations.The fellowship was created in honor of the late Gwen Ifill, an award winning journalist who passed away in November 2016.last_img read more
